Auburn Astronomical Society E-Newsletter February, 2005 In this Issue
This month’s meeting will be on Friday, February 4, at 8:00PM in room 215 of the Aerospace Engineering Building. Riders from the Montgomery area are welcome to meet at the home of Russell Whigham, 518 Seminole Dr., and carpool over to Auburn. Plan to be ready to leave for Auburn at 7:00PM. Allen Screws writes that we have 6 new DVDs for future programs and John Zachry writes that he, “has a real good ESA Press Conference about the results of the Huygens probe to Titan recorded Jan. 21, 2005 - one week after landing in case club wants to see. Time 1:05.” Our star party this month will be the following night, Saturday, February 5, at Cliff Hill’s farm. An equipment inventory, a brief “how-to”, and procedures for borrowing the society’s hydrogen-alpha solar telescope are now on the AAS Web site. Astronomy Day 2005 will be on Saturday, April 16 at the W. A. Gayle Planetarium. Rick Evans writes: Do you have any suggestions for a topic for Astronomy Day this year. I need to get that project started and in the works...it will be here before you know it otherwise. The 2005 Georgia Sky View hosted by Flint River Astronomy Club has been cancelled. Indian Springs State Park is currently in renovations which will not be completed until June. We have searched throughout the state of Georgia for another site with comparable skies and accommodations and we were unable to locate one that fit all our needs. We have already started planning the 2006 Georgia Sky View which will be back at Indian Springs State Park in the spring and will be a 3 day event. I will send out a message once the dates for 2006 are locked in.
